Who we are
Dinner Club Charleston is a community dining event hosted by CHS Happenings, a Charleston, SC-based events and community newsletter. This policy explains what information we collect when you register for Dinner Club, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you register for a Dinner Club event, we collect:
- Contact information — your name, email address, and phone number.
- Registration details — payment confirmation for your ticket, and who you're registering with (for seating purposes).
- Matching preferences — answers to our dinner questionnaire (neighborhood, dietary needs and allergies, conversation style, what you're looking to get out of the evening, and similar). We use this only to build balanced tables — it is never sold or used for advertising.
How we use your information
- To process your registration and payment.
- To assign you to a table and restaurant for the evening.
- To send you event-related communications by email and text message — booking confirmation, reminders, your table assignment, and a post-event feedback request.
- To accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies with the restaurants we work with.
Text messages (SMS)
By providing your phone number at registration, you agree to receive text messages from CHS Happenings related to your Dinner Club reservation — confirmations, reminders, and your table reveal. Message frequency varies by event. Message and data rates may apply. See our SMS Terms of Service for full program details.
- Reply STOP at any time to opt out of text messages.
- Reply HELP for assistance.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Who we share information with
We use trusted third-party services to run Dinner Club, and your information passes through them solely to deliver the event:
- Luma — event registration and payment processing.
- Kit — email communications.
- Twilio — text message delivery.
- Airtable — our internal system for building table assignments.
These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Data retention
We retain registration and matching data to run future Dinner Club events (for example, to avoid repeating the same tablemates) and for basic event recordkeeping. You can request that your information be deleted at any time — see contact info below.
Your choices
- Opt out of text messages anytime by replying STOP.
